Santos Boxing USA dedicated to fostering and promoting positive development in young people. To give youth a constructive, healthy alternative to gang violence and drug activity, while helping them build the skills and determination necessary to realize a positive future for themselves and their community. This will be accomplished through positive role modeling, developing leadership potential, and bolstering self -esteem. Having this program in place will provide youth with a safe and stable setting in which to productively release those feelings which may influence negative choices. Utilizing this program as an option for exercise and as a means to help combat childhood obesity will only serve to enhance the recreational opportunities for the youth of Antelope Valley. In every community, boys and girls are left to find their own recreation and companionship in the streets. An increasing number of children are at home with no adult care or supervision. Young people need to know that someone cares about them.
Roman Santos was raised in the Antelope Valley where he started boxing at the age of five years old. Roman had an extensive amateur boxing career consisting of 110 amateur fights of which he won 103. He also won numerous tournaments such as Golden Gloves, Jr. Olympics, Blue & Gold and The Nationals. Roman moved to Las Vegas, Nevada in 1994 to pursue his professional career and teamed up with 5 time World Champion Roger Mayweather where Roman became ranked #12 in the world Light Heavyweight Division. Roman returned to the Antelope Valley in 2010 to renew the Santos Boxing Program. Romans bringing his experience and coaching methods to the community he was raised in. Since his return he has been training kids of all ages. Parents have written letters of support after seeing the positive change in their kids. Roman's brothers Rocky, Reno and Richard also had extensive boxing careers as well as his father Andy in the 1960's. The Santos family has been involved in the boxing world for the last 5 generations and many more to come.
