The Mission of the R.I.S.E. program is to increase self awareness and provide practical life skills for people from all walks of life and age grade sets, so they can lead healthy and productive lives, through a diligent process of self discovery. By focusing on common issues that participants face in their daily lives, it is this program's responsibility to assist participants in developing the emotional intelligence essential in not only facing, but overcoming life's challenges.

R.I.S.E PROGRAM DESCRIPTION :

A. Self: Addressing the participants' "authentic selves", character building, self image, self esteem and anger issues.
B. Family : addressing the participants' relationships within the family structure, learning the importance of forgiveness, developing communication skills, and understanding the developmental processes instrumental in their development.
C. Community: addressing the participants' role within society, societal systems, authority figures, and societal concerns.

APPROACH:

The R.I.S.E program is presented in an interactive workshop format to engage participants to keep them actively involved in group discussions. Short skits are presented during the workshops, to visually reinforce the material being presented. Workshops conclude with a group discussion of the presentation and a "bottom line" for each of the workshops.
Participant surveys are distributed, at the conclusion of the program, to evaluate the program's effectiveness and applicability in their lives. Participants will be recruited to be peer-facilitators upon graduation, to instill the concept of "Each one Teach one".
